Jack Tramiel was born in Poland in 1928. After the Nazi invasion of 1939 he and his family were sent to a Jewish ghetto. Later, they were sent to one of the worst concentration camps of the Nazi Germany: Auschwitz. In Auschwitz, Jack Tramiel was selected by Dr. Mengele (more known as "The Angel of Death", one of the most cruel and wicked minds of Nazism) to go with his father to the work camp of Ahlem (Hanover). His mother stayed in Auschwitz. Jack Tramiel's father was assassinated by the Nazis (they injected him gasoline). He was rescued from the concentration camp in 1945 by the US Army. Two years later Jack Tramiel went to the USA, the country that gave him freedom, and joined their army. While he was in the army, he learned to repair typewriters. Some time later, he worked as a taxi driver. He saved some money, and bought a shop in the Bronx, where he worked repairing typewriters. He called it "Commodore Portable Typewriter". He had a remarkable success, and decided to move to Ontario (Canada) the following year. There, he focused on manufacturing office material at low cost. But in 1976 he had economical problems and he's about to go bankrupt. Tramiel, used to adversity, bets really hard: he gets a loan of 3 million dollar, and with this money, buys an American electronics company. It was called "Mos Technologies", but he changed its name to "Commodore International". Tramiel has a revolutionary idea: why not to make computing accessible to the general public? "Computers for the masses, not for the social classes". That were times in which computers were just a mere tool for the big companies, and privileged people that could pay a big amount of money. Tramiel starts a chain reaction, maybe a social revolution: no business will lack of a computer (a revolution in all offices), a new toy for the children, and a new way for entertainment that nowadays keeps a strong fight against the leader of communication: TV. Computers became the best vehicle for information, due to Internet. He releases a series of brilliant products, really revolutionary for those times, both for their technological improvements as for their progressively lowered price. For example, PET (designed by Chuck Peddle in 1977) and VIC-20 (in 1981, was one of the first computers able to work with colors, and were produced 9000 units per day). And in 1982, they launch the Commodore 64. It had all kinds of peripherals that were just high technology until then, and never seen before by the home users: optical pen and graphics tablet (that allowed to draw directly on the screen, or in an electronic blackboard), game devices (joystick, mouse, roller), modem to browse the Internet, video digitalizer (the precursor of web cams), MIDI sequencer, monitor filters... Commodore 64 brings the absolute success for his company. It is the best seller home computer in History, with more than 30 million units sold all over the world. This is why it appears in the Guinness World Records. Commodore International reached the 32% of the home computing market. In 1984 Jack Tramiel left Commodore and sold his shares. With the abandonment of this man, blessed with the Midas Touch, starts the decadence of the company. When they launched the notorious computer Amiga, they went bankrupt. The company abandoned Jack Tramiel's guidelines of low price computers. In the same year, he bought Atari. Years later, his sons managed the company. He retired to live a peaceful life with his wife, Helen. They are together for more than 60 years. So when you turn off your computer today, remember Jack Tramiel. Maybe if Jack Tramiel never existed, you may not have a computer to turn off.

Claude Oscar Monet was born in Paris (France) in the year 1840. Since he was very young he was deeply interested in art. When he was 15 years old, he did an amateur exposition in a store in "El Havre" with some drafts. Eugene Boudin was pleasantly amazed with those drafts, and offered himself to be his teacher. Monet agreed with pleasure. Even with the opposition of his father, that hated the idea of his son being an artist, he kept on following his dreams. He had to serve for two years in a military regiment in Algeria. After this, he went to Paris to study painting. There, he met Renoir, Sisley, Bazille... painters like him that became his friends. These artists, with Monet, became great symbols of the impressionist art. These group of impressionist painters had to fight against those others that preferred a more traditional art. They used to gather in the cafe Guerbois, where they shared ideas, experiences... In the past, the painters did the drafts outdoors, and finished their artworks in their studios. In the times of Monet, there was an evolution in painting materials: oils, temperas... These materials were not as easily damaged outdoors as before. So this supposed a revolution, and encouraged the artist to paint outdoors. This was called "plein-air". During the war, Monet was living in Holland and England. Later on, he went back to Paris. It took years for the public to start appreciating Monet's paintings, just like happened with his impressionist friends. But the perseverance and faith that Monet put in his art had its reward, and his paintings were present in relevant museums of all Europe. When he was old, he ordered to build a Japanese garden around his house, with a big pond plenty of water lilies. Monet was becoming blind because of suffering cataracts, but this was not an obstacle for making a series of paintings full of aquatic flowers and plants. When he was operated, he not only was able to see again, but also he could see ultraviolet light, as in the operation was removed a part of the eyes that block these rays. This made him see everything with a blue shade, that explains the colors of his last artistic period. Claude Monet died when he was 86 years old. When he died, the French government recognized him as one of the biggest landscape painters in Europe. His works are surrounded with a dream-like halo of peace and harmony. Without a doubt, Claude Monet was the painter of the dreams.

The Wolf And The Dog One day, the wolf approached a dog that was guarding the sheep, and said: "Don't be afraid, I won't take any sheep. I just want to know how pleasant is your job". The dog told him: "Not bad. I just have to care the sheep, and praise my owner. So he gives me some bones, and even the leftovers of what he eats!" The wolf stared at the dog. He was big and stout. However, the wolf was hungry and very thin. "Not a bad job at all" -said the wolf- "And what's that thing you are wearing in the neck?" "It's a collar. It's for tying me." "For tying you? Do they tie you? And can't you run free?", asked the wolf. "Run? Where to? And what for?" The wolf said goodbye to the dog. And ran free through the forest, feeling the wind and smelling the country flowers. Then, he remembered the dog, and felt sorry for him. The Wolf And The Mother The wolf saw the farmer getting away from his house. And thought "This is the chance to get close and try to steal some food". He approached the house and saw a woman with a baby in her arms. The mother was saying to the baby: "Don't you cry. If you cry, the wolf will hear you, and he is very strong and big". When the wolf heard this, felt very proud of himself. And, praised, watched his own image reflected in the window. Amazed of his image, got distracted, and when he noticed, the woman was pointing at him with a shotgun. The wolf stared her frightened. But her shotgun jammed, and was unable to fire the wolf. This way, the wolf was able to scape. The wolf watched the woman from between the bushes. No one was never so close to kill him. She seemed fragile and weak. Since that day, he never trusted those who seem weak and flattering. The Wolf And The Sheep Once upon a time, a wolf saw a sheep that was tied. And thought "How easy will be to hunt her". When he approached the sheep, she said "Do you know why my owner tied me? Because I am very dangerous and the flock is in danger with me." The wolf laughed, and said her "You silly, you try to fool me..." The sheep answered "Do you think my owner would risk to loose my wool, my milk and my meat?" The wolf went away. Having so much self confidence... she must be right. Nowadays, that sheep is still laughing at that wolf.

In those places where cold is very intense, the ice that was formed in winter is not melted in summer. So the ice accumulates in the mountains in big amounts. Its own weight makes this ice roll down the mountain, like true ice rivers. This is called a glacier. Sometimes this glacier continues advancing towards the valleys nearby to the sea. These glaciers, by their own strength, dig the earth on their way, until they reach the sea. Salt water melts these ice rivers. When the entire glacier gets melted, results in a valley flooded by water, surrounded by mountains that are incredibly sculpted with awesome shapes. This is called a fjord. In Norway there are many fjords. In fact, it has the second biggest fjord in the world: Sognefjord. This one reaches a maximum depth of 4,291 ft under the sea level. Some Norwegian fjords are so rough and dangerous that the Norwegians needed to tie their livestock to avoid them falling to the abyss accidentally. The lands that surround the fjords are very fertile. They are landscapes of great beauty and contrasts. The Norwegians took advantage on the navigability of these waters to expand their commerce, and increase the communications between villages. It was not estrange to take a boat to go to the church in Sunday or to go to the market for shopping. The Norwegian fjords have been listed by UNESCO as one of the World Heritage Sites, due to their spectacular beauty. And this is because the Norwegian fjords are considered as the most beautiful natural landscapes in the world. The awesome waterfalls that are present in the fjords, the contrasts of being able to ski and swimming in their nearby beaches... with all this, it's not strange that the National Geographic Traveler Magazine considers that visiting the Norwegian fjords is one of the best touristic destinations in the world. Beowulf is an epic poem, of unknown author. The poem had no title, until the XIX century, when it is called Beowulf. This poem mixes real elements with fictitious. It's written in England, but it's about Scandinavian. Was diffused through oral tradition. And as a curiosity, Tolkien liked this epic poem very much. The epic poem is about the adventures of Beowulf, a brave warrior. Beowulf was nephew of the king Hygelac. Amongst other heroic actions, he showed a big bravery in the battles against the Swedish. His first great feat was in a fight against Breka, a noble from the Hygelac court. Breka and Beowulf were fighting for five days in the sea, until the sea separated them. Breca could arrive to the coast, but Beowulf hadn't the same luck, and was fighting with marine monsters. But he was victorious. When he went to see the king, Hygelac gave him a present: the sword Nageling. Another heroic action was to defeat the terrible monster Grendel. Grendel was a terrible threat for his village. In a first confrontation, Beowulf managed to cut Grendel's arm. But the mother of Grendel went to recover the arm when everyone was sleeping. Grendel's mother was also a menace for them all, so Beowulf followed the tracks of the blood of Grendel's arm. Finally, Beowulf killed both. When Beowulf had an advanced age, he also defeat a dragon helped by his friend Wiglaf. But in this fight he was seriously wounded and died. But it was said that he died with satisfaction. Because they discovered the treasures that the dragon was caring. So the death of Beowulf brought wealth and security to his country. He was buried in a barrow that was called as him: Beowulf. Between 1975 and 1976 DC Comics published 6 comics based in the epic poem. Its authors were Michael Usan and Ricardo Villamonte. There were other adaptations to the character of Beowulf in comics books. Authors like: Gareth Hinds, Jerry Bingham, Mike Weller, Alexis E. Fajardo, Astrid Anand and Bill Carroll gave life to the mythic warrior. Lately, Beowulf has been brought to the cinema. The director Robert Zemeckis has directed the latest adaptation of the epic poem, starring by Ray Winstone, Antony Hopkins, Angelina Jolie and John Malkovich amongst others.

Poseidon seduced Medusa in the Athena's temple. Athena got angry for this desecration, so she cursed Medusa. She turned her hair into snakes, and all those who dare to look at her eyes would be turned into stone. Perseus, Greek hero, searched for Medusa as he needed his head to defeat the marine monster called Ceto. This monster was so strong that the only way to beat it was showing it the head of Medusa, so it will be petrified. Perseus cut the head of Medussa off. And Pegasus emerged from her spilled blood. Pegasus is depicted as a gorgeous white winged horse that rides across the sky. According to the legend, where it passed, water gushed out. This is because Pegasus is symbolic descendant of Poseidon, who is not only the God of Oceans, but also of the rivers, fountains, lakes... It was said that Pegasus lived in the mount Helicon, until the Greek hero Bellerophon went to capture him. Bellerophon needed Pegasus to carry him flying to the Olympus, where the Gods lived. Zeus realized this, and sent an insect to bite Pegasus. When this happened, Bellerophon lost control over Pegasus. He fell to the ground over a bramble bush, and this left him blind and lame. Pegasus continued flying to the Olympus, and there was welcomed by Zeus. Since then, Pegasus carries the lightnings for Zeus. Pegasus fell in love with Euippe, and was father of Celeris and Melanippe, that were the origin of the race of winged horses. Zeus placed the figure of Pegasus in the night skies, as the constellation that has its name.

The origin of Tutankhamun is doubtful. There are two theories, one of them is that Tutankhamun could be son of Akhenaten (husband of Nefertiti). The other is that he could be son of Amenhotep III and his own daughter: Sitamun. When Tutankhamun was crowned pharaoh (at ten years old), the cult to Aton was abandoned. During his reign he ordered to repair many temples. Thus, many statues dedicated to God Amun have the face of Tutankhamun. Tutankhamun died at 19 years old. There are many hypothesis about his death but none of them definitive. In 1922 Howard Carter and Lord Carnavan discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun in the Valley of the Kings. They commanded an expedition that entered the tomb of the pharaoh. When the last man of that expedition returned to the surface, a big sand storm started, preceded by a hawk (symbol of the royal emblem of the ancient Egypt). The falcon flew to the west, that in the ancient Egyptians beliefs was the direction to the Other World. Here starts what was called the Curse of Tutankhamun. Many of who had a part in the facts died in strange circumstances. Up to 30 strange deaths were counted as related with Tutankhamun's tomb. Five months later from the discovery of the tomb, lord Carnavan was bitten by a insect in the face (in the left cheek). The bite become infected. Weakened by this infection, he suffered from pneumonia. This pneumonia affected both lungs. He had an horrible agony, with physical deformations. He even lost his teeth. The hour of his death was 1:55. In the moment of his death, there was a big outage in Cairo. In that same instant, his relatives, in Lord Carnavan's mansion in Hampshire (England) told that his dog howled and died. When Tutankhamun's mummy was examined, the doctors saw that, possibly, Tutankhamun had a scar in his face, in the left cheek. With all this, the belief in the Curse of Tutankhamun was increased. In that times, it was also told that there was an inscription in the tomb that said: "Death will come with fast wings over anyone who dares to desecrate this tomb". Although this inscription was never found, as it was in a wall that was demolished to enter the tomb. Some time later, the treasures of Tutankhamun were going to be sent to an exhibition in Paris. Mohammed Ibraham, director of antiquities, dreamed that the treasures mustn't go to Paris. But at last, he was convinced by the Egyptian authorities. The day he signed the permission, he was run over by a car and died two days later. Richard Bethell, who helped Carter to classify the treasure, commited suicide. His father also suicided throwing himself through his bedroom's window. In that bedroom, was found a vase from Tutankhamun's tomb. These are just some of the strange deaths around Tutankhamun's tomb. There were deaths not only between the expedition team, but also between people related with the tomb and its discovery. In 1962, doctor Ezze-Din Taha, from the University of Cairo, discovered some pathogenic fungus that were in Tutankhamun's tomb; this may have been the origin of many deaths. Many of the victims had suffered a weakening in their health, that could have caused them to contract more serious diseases. This discovery was expounded in a conference. When he went out, he had a road accident, and died. When the autopsy was done, they noticed that he had a heart attack just before the accident. Does the Curse of Tutankhamun exist? Maybe collective obsession, or a pathogenic element that weakened those involved with Tutankhamun. True or not, who knows?

And with his return, a plot starts, that will end with an indescribable end. House of Flying Daggers, in a bad political situation emerges a group of rebels called the House of Flying Daggers. There's an order to capture their mysterious leader. They catch one of their members: Mei, a blind warrior woman. Mei is fooled by one of the captains that pretends to free her, and accompanies her to try to capture her leader. In the middle of battles and fights, love will arise. Ran, is based in the Shakespeare book "King Lear". The Japanese director Akira Kurosawa adapts this story to the Medieval Japan. A father decides to pass to their sons his goods and his power. In the moment that he tells his sons his will, there's a fight between them. The ambition of them all will mean the tragic end of their lineage. Houzhe (To live!), by the great director Zhang Yimou (House of Flying Daggers, Curse of Golden Flower). It's the story of China from the 40s to the 70s, through the eyes of a simple Chinese married couple. It's based on a novel by Yu Hua. The Eye, Mann was blind since she was 2 years old. Fourteen years later, she manages to see again after an operation. After regaining the sight, strange happenings begin to occur. It's a terror movie. Asian terror movies have become a classic for the fans of the genre. Their style has a special essence that is imitated in many movies, and even commercials, in all countries.
